| The purpose of this
step is to remove any oxide from the surface of the workpiece before we
start the anodising process. A typical solvent to remove aluminium oxide
is sodium hydroxide (NaOH). But at the same time, some of the aluminium
will be dissolved in the solvent. Here are the chemical reactions involved:
